LAKE SAMMAMISH RESIDENCE

The 1970s Lake Sammamish Residence was a full-scale renovation of a now-classic Northwest Modern home. Our priority was to allow natural lighting into a dark kitchen, dining room, and living room. Working toward our open concept living space, we highlighted the once-hidden structure and created the illusion of heavy timber beams, echoing the warmth of the wood flooring and cabinetry. To augment a functional kitchen space, we added horizontal-grain walnut cabinets and hand-blown modern Pendant light fixtures, which reflect the natural light streaming through large windows that were moved and expanded. The Northwest Modern style is emulated in each carefully selected piece of furniture and finish, down to the antique mirrored backsplash in the newly constructed bar.
