MAGNOLIA 1920

Tucked in Seattle’s Magnolia neighborhood, this 1920 French Chalet-style home offered beautiful bones and original millwork that instantly captured our clients’ hearts. The homeowners came to us seeking a design that would honor the home’s history while making it more functional for their young family of four.

Our goal was to bring warmth, sophistication, and a touch of whimsy to the interiors to reflect the homeowners’ personality and the home’s original architecture. Our scope began with the remodeling of the kitchen, mudroom, and dining room, but eventually expanded throughout the first floor. We reworked the layout of the kitchen to meet the demands of modern family living; adding the checkerboard marble floor supplemented the inviting and storied feel of the home. The dining room ceiling was wallpapered highlighting the original millwork, creating visual interest and celebrating the craftsmanship of the era. In the mudroom, the new cabinets, wallpaper, and Dutch door connect the side entrance of the home to the backyard.
Throughout the home, playful yet refined elements are layered in to create a space that feels both elevated and inviting. The result is a thoughtful blend of heritage and fresh perspective: a home that’s rooted in history, full of personality, and tailored for modern family living.
